We believe in the power of
collective action to drive meaningful change. Our mission is to restore nature,
build resilient communities, and create a healthier planet for future
generations.
To inspire and empower people to
plant trees, nurture the environment, and champion a culture of
conservation—creating a greener, more sustainable world for all.
Save Nature from Extinction is a grassroots conservation NGO dedicated to enhancing rural livelihoods through sustainable environmental practices. Founded in Embu, Eastern Kenya, our organization integrates nature conservation with social enterprise, uplifting rural communities—especially women—while healing the land they depend on.
We are passionate about:
- Landscape restoration
(agroforestry and school greening)
- Sustainable agriculture and food security
- Gender equity and women's empowerment
- Environmental education and advocacy
Our Journey
What began in 2017 as a small,
women-led community group called Witeithie Women Group (meaning
"uplift yourself") has grown into a vibrant organization with
nationwide reach. The founding members—30 determined women—started by
establishing a tree nursery to combat rampant land degradation and address
pressing issues like water scarcity.
They took action—planting trees in
schools, along riverbanks, and on degraded farms. Inspired by their success and
the urgent need for wider impact, the group formally registered as Save
Nature from Extinction. Today, we empower more women to become leaders in
conservation and development, expanding our efforts to communities across
Kenya.
